Atlantic, IA - Faith’s Friends is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to help relieve families’ financial burdens during times of infant loss by helping paying for funerals, headstones, and burial costs of those infants and young children who pass away. Faith's Friends was started in memory of Faith Bateman who passed away 1 ½ hours after she was born in 2010. To help this new organization, established this past March, TS Bank donated $5,000 to add upon initial startup funds.
“Parents who lose their infants are usually young themselves. They may be in the beginning of their work career and have many expenses such as student loans, mortgages or rent, and simply may not have the thousands of dollars for funeral expenses for a child. Although Faith’s Friends cannot take away the families grief, we hope to relieve the added burden of paying for such expenses, so the family can grieve during this trying time. We are so appreciative of this gift from TS Bank and the families who will be impacted,” said Christina Bateman, President and Founder of Faith’s Friends.
Currently, parents who have lost their young children must be residents of Cass County to be eligible. Faith’s Friends has recently added the following eligible counties of Audubon, Shelby, Guthrie, Adair, Adams, Montgomery, Mills and select cities within Pottawattamie County.
“Faith’s Friends is truly a special organization for families dealing with such a difficult loss. We are deeply humbled to help more families with infant loss in Cass County and liked-minded organizations such as Faith’s Friends,” said Kelsey Stupfell, Director of Community Reinvestment.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics for every 1,000 live births 5.82 deaths occur. To learn more about Faith’s Friends contact faithsfriends@outlook.com and their new website arriving in late January at meetfaithsfriends.org.
