Over 125 ninth grade students discover new banking careers

In partnership with the Council Bluffs Community School District this summer, TS Bank hosted over 125 incoming ninth grade students enrolled in Leveraging Youth on the Freshman Team (LYFT) with Abraham Lincoln High School and Thomas Jefferson High School over the course of multiple days.

Students soaked up career readiness tips from TS Bank employees in the areas of marketing, human resources, credit operations, lending, information technology, security and wealth management. The Class of 2026 was inquisitive, engaged and eager to ACHIEVE MORE. 

Students were introduced to many ways TS Bank is offering financial services to Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa. This included a TS Bank tour of the 43 Scott Street building and multiple presentations accompanied with hands-on real life application.

“Careers at TS Bank include way more than being a banker,” said TS Institute Director of Financial Literacy, Kyle Osborne. “The students who visited us from the Council Bluffs Schools LYFT program were shown the true impact a business can have on a community if it genuinely cares about people and does so with integrity."

TS Bank was one of four businesses to invest in students this summer in the Council Bluffs market. Others included Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, Iowa Western Community College and The Hub.

While at TS Bank, students were given tools in how to interview, insight into investments, the importance of saving, the importance of a healthy social media page, phishing safety, and the joy of offering money to a business wanting to grow. All of these topics and more were offered because TS Bank is committed to the financial future of youth in the local markets and the financial health of those in our community. 

These career site visits were hosted by TS Institute, the financial literacy arm of TS Bank. Since 2009 TS Institute has reached over 300,000 youth and adults with simple, fun and applicable educational resources involving finances and economics.
