Lemke finds personal connection with Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs
February 18, 2020 | TS Bank
Riley Lemke, TS Bank Branch Manager, was recently named a board member of Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs. Riley is a Council Bluffs native and graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. His first introduction to banking was while serving as a student banker at the Yellow Jacket Branch inside of Thomas Jefferson High School and has been with TS Bank for over five years. In his spare time, Riley also enjoys playing on an indoor soccer league.
What made you want to get involved with Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs?
I really wanted to help make a bigger impact in the community, and there is no better way to do that than getting involved with an organization like Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is very engaged in Council Bluffs and the surrounding area, so to be able to help make informed decisions for the organization and area communities’ best interest is exciting.
What is it about Habitat for Humanity that connects most with you?
Their mission aligns well with my personal beliefs, and it is very moving to be a piece of what they are doing. For over 25 years, Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs has finished 90 homes in Pottawattamie County and continues to build community impact.
What are you looking forward in your board term with Habitat for Humanity?
I look forward to getting as involved as possible and helping to create more awareness for Habitat for Humanity. I hope to add as much value as I can, as well as provide any insight to help achieve their mission and vision. We can never have too many volunteers, so anyone who wants to help a good cause can sign up through the website: https://habitatcb.org/volunteer/.
On Martin Luther King Day, TS Bank employees took the afternoon to volunteer with different organizations in the local area. Each year, TS Bank employees are given 50 hours of volunteer time off to encourage community involvement. Last year, employees collectively served more than 8,200 hours.
Riley along with some fellow TS Bank employees took time to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. They built a picnic table and painted a couple of rooms.
“What an absolutely AWESOME group of guys to work with. They were great helpers and even when in a cold garage, they kept their sense of humor,” shared Kim Smith, Family Services and Volunteer Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs. “It is our hope the experience was educational and fulfilling. TS Bank should be proud of how their company was represented and look forward to working with TS Bank employees again.”
You’ll find Riley at TS Bank’s downtown location on most days and he can be reached directly at 712.487.0459.
