“Our roots are so similar as we have both traveled to the other side of the world and then returned. We have both built homes from which we can view our original family farmsteads and have worked in the same business with offices not far apart. We have both experienced much, but our roots are so deep in the Treynor community that we both returned to the hometown that molded us, that we love. And that love for community has led both of us to wanting to serve this community,” said Chairman of the Board, Mick Guttau.
Young has been actively involved in community service throughout his career. He has served as a board member with the Pottawattamie County Red Cross, Progressive Bankers of Southwest Iowa, Pottawattamie County Genealogical Society, Bethany Foundation, Salem Lutheran Church Association. He has also been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor. Gene and his wife, Jan have two adult married children Jacob Young (Cory) and Megan Dreyer (BJ) and six grandchildren.
